Community Outreach Partner Opportunities
Los Puentes is developing a program that will provide interested businesses, community organizations, families or individuals with opportunities to volunteer or provide needed services. Listed below are just a few ideas of how you, or your organization, could help LPCS.
One Day Events – help host event activities; serve meal or snacks
- September: Open House, in the evening
- October: Drug Awareness event, noon to 3:00
- November/December: a Winter Dance (have never done this before)
- April: Health Fair, noon to 3:00
In-Class help
- Individuals help in a classroom by helping students with work might volunteer one day a week for one class period
Service Project
- Volunteers work together to complete a project for the campus
- Projects would be based upon volunteers’ skills and campus need
- Examples: beautification, maintenance items, build book cases
Collect Rewards
- Volunteers collect “rewards” from local businesses and individuals
- “rewards” used as incentives and congratulatory prizes for job well done
- Examples: free Sonic drink coupons, free movie tickets
Sponsor A Field Trip
- Our school is promoting “College Bound – No Excuses”
- To help motivate students to go to college, field trips are hosted to college campuses
- To go out of town, need to fund transportation and food
- Approximately 10 to 50 students may attend along with staff
- Your organization could provide funding and/or chaperones
Sponsor “College Bound” shirts
- As an incentive, we’d like to give shirts that promote “college bound” to the students
- Possibly only give to current seniors (20)
- If give to students and staff, (175)
Sponsor a School Supply Drive
- Host before spring semester (January)
- Collect supplies for students in need and for individual classrooms
Sponsor Dean’s List/Honor Roll Rewards
- Began honoring students that earned all A’s and B’s and All A’s
- Currently we present these students with a certificate
- Would like to host a small ceremony each 9 weeks and possibly give each recipient a treat
